I think Gary Lineker said something against the UK government policy on migrants and the BBC heads were mortified, so they cancelled him. Or something like that, i'm not sure exactly tbh.

Is he not going to be presenting MOTD anymore or what's going on?

That's the jist of it but it goes deeper than that. Its the hypocrisy. The BBC said their employees must remain impartial. Which is bullshit because they have been a propaganda outlet for this Tory government for years. They have have had presenters in the past (Jeremy Clarkson, Andrew Neil) and presenters now (Alan Sugar, Laura Kuenssberg) who are Tory shills, and never once got warned. The new head of the BBC is a former Tory councillor, who raised money for Boris Johnson. But nobody bats an eyelid. Lineker himself Tweeted anti-Jeremy Corbyn Tweets, nothing got said then, but as soon as he expresses his opinion on this right-wing Government he gets shut down. On Twitter by the way, not on Match of the day, on his own spare time, on a different platform. Very Nazi like from a Government that took offence from being called "like 1930's Germany".
And today we out found they cancelled an episode of David Attenborough about climate change, so not to alienate those crazy extremists right-wingers who think there is no climate change.
No, the BBC only means impartiality when it agrees with Government policy, need to start calling themselves British Broadcasting Conservatives because that's what they are. They are turning into Fox news before our eyes. Can't wait to see who will be their version of Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity.

Its funny how the right-wingers like to call the left "snowflakes", say we are against freedom of speech and "cancel" everybody we don't agree with, take a look in the mirror you hypocritical projecting brainwashed idiots.

My dad listens to the BBC here and I tell him it's a propaganda machine. He says it's better than our media.... :flooredlaughing: :flooredlaughing: Our media sucks

Your media does suck but at least they are honest, in that they don't pretend to be impartial. I'd rather news stations were honest, so I know who to avoid. To be fair I hardly watch it these days anyway.

I'm not very political but the BBC has massively messed up with Gary Lineker and he should be reinstated. This is a freedom of speech issue and I don't see how the presenter of a football programme saying something in his spare time should be a problem. Are people really that sensitive that they can't cope with hearing a different point of view to theirs?

It was a good to hear a chant for him at Leicester yesterday.

Agree with all that Dels :salute:

Huge kudos to Ian Wright who came out very quickly to express solidarity and say he wouldn't do MOTD if Lineker was being "stood down". Once Shearer followed suit the BBC hierarchy were screwed. Great to see collective action winning out! :rockguitar:

Also worth remembering that there are thousands of brilliant journalists and creatives at the BBC whose organisation has basically been hijacked by the Tory stooges parachuted into the organisation. This will feel like a small victory for them as well.

I read a book a couple of years ago about Ultras and Lazio were the focus of one of the chapters. Even as someone familiar with their history I found it disturbing.

Hopefully, he'll appeal and get it rescinded. But since its Italy I doubt that very much.

Last year I read a story about a rugby team in Italy, it wasn't the national team, gotta feeling it was in Milan. Anyway they were giving out secret Santa presents and somebody wrapped up a banana and gave it to a black player. Well, the rest of the team thought this was hilarious and couldn't see why recipient of the banana didn't find it funny. Because "it was just a joke".
Honestly, I think that its so embedded in their culture, they genuinely don't think its a problem.

I know this country has its problems too but we know its wrong, people who are racist here know very well what they are doing.

I can't believe its 2023 and we can't buy eggs in this country. I know its a first world problem and not a big deal in the larger scheme of things but it just feels like this shit is a sign of things to come.

Chicken eggs or Easter eggs ?

Had the same thing down here a few weeks ago because of bird flu etc. £1.40 for 6 medium sized ones now (when you can get them).
Lots of empty shelves in my local Supermarket lately.

I read that story about the rugby player. They had an interview with him in the paper. So sad and so frustrating.

Real eggs. Like I said, first world problem but it just sums up the UK right now.

As for chocolate eggs, there's plenty of them and I shall wait until they are reduced to 50p till I buy my full of them. :ninja:

CONI upheld the ban originally at the appeal which is mind boggling & reflects very poorly on them! :tongueout: :swearing:  :bootyshake:
