Motta's first starting eleven shows a lot of balls. Glad to see Yildiz playing as a trequartista behind Vlahovic.

Forza Juve!

Even before his goal Weah has been better than any game last season.

Funny what happens when you put players in their best positions

Only watched the 2nd half, but seems like a good start

Serie A has always been about the trequartista for me. It's what Italian football is.

Lots of positives tonight. A lot more unpredictable, quicker movement of the ball, players running off the ball to give options, better team play. Como are still finding their feet with plenty of new additions themselves with anticipation of a relegation battle so there's that perspective, and we're nowhere near title challenging level, but players playing for each other was a stark contrast to what i've seen for the last five seasons. There was way less of the mercenary shite. I think with Koopmeiners being a step up from Locatelli it should get better so hopefully we land him. We need to continue to keep it solid against more challenging games ahead to give the offensive play time to gel. What a debut from Mbangula! Great to see competition for Luiz. Also Savona didn't put a step wrong and allowed Cambiaso to move up in place of Weah so another great option. We need someone to challenge Vlahovic, or at least be an alternative, i don't see what the problem is with Milik filling that role. I can see why Motta doesn't want Chiesa, as he would be going off on solo missions but seeing as he might be staying then if he comes around and plays as a team player then there's a place for someone with his talent, else he can go off to merda next summer, or this summer for money.

I like the shirt, i have the 96/97 one with wide stripes but it had a black back on it which didn't work, especially if you didn't get a name and number, back then you couldn't order it that way, instead relying on someone in Marathon/Champion sports shops to print it crooked and spell the name wrong because it was italian. The traditional colours with white shorts and socks is way better than black, which should be only used when colour clashes occur. Its much better than the stupid yellow or red trim. Not even sure where the red came from. Yellow and blue were the secondary colours on the old crest, hence the blue 96 CL final shirt with a yellow star on each shoulder.

Lastly, given how the team played tonight, i don't see why the club was hellbent on hoping Rabiot would sign, he didn't have the work ethic nor attitude of this team at all. It's a blessing in disguise that he didn't sign.

I suppose traditionally the trequartista played in the hole behind the front two like Baggio behind Vialli and Ravanelli when he won the Ballon d'Or. Actually i wonder was Baggio the last player to win the Ballon d'Or that didn't play in the European Cup/Champions League. Anyway, looks like we might be attempting to play with three trequartista behind Vlahovic! :nodding:

I couldn't watch the match but it sounded positive and from the highlights it looked like Motta already had the team pressing a lot higher. The squad isn't complete yet so things should hopefully improve from here even though it's a good start.

I had that shirt and as it was a present I asked for number 10 to be put on the back (Del Piero), but in whatever sports shop my parents bought it from they only had those 3d numbers and they didn't fit in the black box on the back so I ended up with 11 which was Michele Padovano.

That happened to my Danone 94/95 shirt.
It was only after they'd ironed on the 10 (Baggio) that i'd seen they put 3d numbers on it

I hadn't realised (or i forgot!) that in 2006 Padovano was sentenced for 8 years in jail for apparently playing some part in trafficking hash - then in 2023 he was declared not guilty and all sentences dropped.

I'd either forgotten that story or never realised as well.

I just saw that Padovano only scored one goal for Crystal Palace after leaving Juve and it was against Leicester.

I did not know that about Padovano, all exJuve players are fair game for prosecutors looking to get famous.

Everyone has Del Piero shirts, but who can say they've a Padovano shirt? Probably just Liam and Michele himself. :fastheadbanging:

Kalulu hesitating for this long is a red flag. We need players who want to play for the club and are fully commited to the cause, not another guy with Rabiot's attitude. Move on and stop being a schmuck for a club, we're looking like fools again and its not even one of our own players this time. I would drop this pursuit silently and then if he does finally says yes tell him to take a hike. We need to look elsewhere immediately, time is running out.
I jumped to conclusions here as according to reports Kalulu was hesitating because he wanted some guarantees over his future instead of becoming a journey man, rather than my assumption that he wasn't arsed about playing for us, so i take it back, my bad.

He should be an upgrade from Rugani.

I look back now and think that, it was certainly unique.

I don't know exactly how good Kalulu is but he has Serie A experience and I'm happy to have a look at him as I believe it's an option to buy not an obligation. It seems McKennie is going to work his way back in too. I thought he did well last season so hopefully he can keep it up, even if I'm not a fan of the short contract extension he's apparently getting.

The addon bonuses to be paid to Fiorentina in the Gonzalez deal should include a clause that the bonuses are voided if Commisso shittalks the player after he's become a Juve player. The stunts he pulled after Bernadeschi, Chiesa and Vlahovic joined Juve were classless and the club should've sued him, Commisso talks alot of shit but he only cares about money himself.

Commisso's an idiot whose playing to his audience and doesn't care whether what he says is right or not.

It looks like being a busy week in the transfer market both incoming and outgoing. Miretti has gone to Genoa on loan, I feel he needed the loan a year ago so he could get regular football in a less pressurised environment.

That's the kind of goal Vlahovic needs, a cliche strikers goal that is not just a tap-in.
