It's so disappointing to go out to a team that was beaten comfortably in the League Phase. Tonight I felt the first half was mostly good, PSV weren't really threatening much, but the 2nd half was different when tiredness set in. Extra time was end to end but their 3rd was so poor, there's 3 players marking 2 of theirs at the far post and none go out to stop the low cross.
This team is lacking something defensively compared to earlier in the season and it's not just Bremer. There's been a lot of injuries, some new players coming in and that's perhaps unsettled things a bit too. It's also missing an effective attacking midfielder. I liked Koopmeiners at Atalanta, he was a consistent attacking threat there, but he's just not doing it right now and hasn't most of the season aside from the odd flash. He also seems to be an automatic pick when he really needs taking out the team to help him rebuild his confidence. McKennie is a willing runner and a good squad player but he shouldn't be first choice.
I hope that this is a fairly young team still learning under a new coach and that they show something in Serie A for the rest of the season to give us optimism for next season, and hopefully win the Coppa again. Less games should help.

It's depressing that this is what we are now. I think this is the third time in a row we've been knocked out at the 2nd round, now it's to Eindhoven, with all due respect.
I actually really like Koopmeiners, because of his attitude. But yeah a rest might do him good. Clearly defensive midfielder doesn't work for him though, he wants to be on the move. I think he was unlucky a lot when playing attacking midfield, given a rest and played there again would be worth exploring. I think playing him on the right side with Yildiz in the middle should be tried out. Mbangula - despite two terrible touches this evening - on the left would give three guys with great tenacious attitudes.
McKennie, Comceicao and Gonzalez add energy as subs.
If Bremer and Cabal are as good when they come back then the defense should be good.
Lastly, Thuram was brilliant when he came on, leadership written all over this guy, should be a starter always.

It has to be said Motta was useless tonight. Again his ingame decisions are awful. His first set of subs weren't even logical for the formation. It left us with three left-backs, one as a center back fair enough but two more? and only one holding midfielder, players looked like they didn't know where they were supposed to play. Allegri started doing illogical subs at the end of his first stint and would correct it with the next substitution, that was the start of his downfall. Some coaches have adopted this ego trip where instead of looking basic by substituting like for like, they try to look like they are mixing it up as some sort of tactical genius ploy. They're not fooling anyone. Motta royally fucked up with this stupid shit tonight. Trying to convey he's a tactical genius. Tactical dunce more like. I'm not totally against Motta, i like some aspects of our play like playing it forward instead of just always across going nowhere, but he's been totally shit overall and needs to analyze himself not just the players, if he wants to improve, and don't be stubborn.

As a neutral watching, although I lean toward the Italian teams of course, I thought Motta was poor tonight. When Juve grabbed the aggregate lead that is when he should have put on Thuram and Vlahovic. Needed fresh legs in midfield and Vlahovic is better at holding up the ball and bringing others into play.

I agree with that, the subs were needed earlier and should have happened regardless of the goal.Duncan!! wrote: ↑20-02-25 03:07As a neutral watching, although I lean toward the Italian teams of course, I thought Motta was poor tonight. As well as all of the above, last night just exposed everything Motta has failed to implement all season:Myles wrote: ↑20-02-25 00:02It has to be said Motta was useless tonight. We don't know how to defend. We're so open all the time with huge spaces between our players. We've been lucky in games that teams haven't exposed this. You need to be able to play Allegri ball when needed;
There's no cohesion or chemistry between our attacking players. Everything is off the cuff and reliant on individual moments of brilliance from one of our players. There's no patterns of play or collective understanding of how we're going to attack the opposition;
Our transitions to attack are either non existent or way, way too slow. With the players we have and their speed,
we should be lethal on the counter attack, but we're not. We slow everything down by passing it sideways allowing the opposition to get back into their defensive shape.
The only thing Motta has introduced is the quality of our possession of the ball, and I give him huge credit for that. But it's not enough. You have to be able to do it all. He's basically learning on the job and we don't have time for that. There is too much at stake for a club like Juventus to 'wait' for a coach to 'get it'.
