After Lupo's prompting on the International Football thread I thought it was worth starting a dedicated thread. :salute:

So, what we thinking?

Who are you supporting (if your home country's not there...)? :chanting:
Who do you think will win? :worldcupwinner:
Predictions for top scorer? :goalflash:
Breakout young star likely to be linked with a £100m move to Chelsea? :keepyupyheaders:

I'm just hoping Scotland can give a decent account of ourselves and still have something to play for come Matchday 3 against Hungary...... :ninja:

Anyone but Spain to win it as far as I'm concerned, the rest I'll have a think about.

Hopefully the Azzurri will repeat, but I doubt it. Would like to see Scotland get to the knockout stages.

Teams I would like to see do well- Italia and Scotland

Teams I would like to not do well.- Spain, France, Germany, England[sorry]

Big Copa America this year as well in the USA!

I think England have a chance this time around, especially as the performance in defeat to France at the World Cup was an improvement on previous tournaments.

I don't think Italy are as strong as at the last Euros but you never know.

Southgate has been very brave in some of his England squad selections although the defence looks a bit fragile tbh.

I think England have a great chance of winning the tournament but I say that every two years! :lollaughing:

Time to lower expectations.

The joke is that I was reading an article about our defeat to Iceland being the nadir under Hodgson and how Southgate turned it all around.

Not ideal prep for England but think friendly results definitely need to be taken with a pinch of salt this close to the tournament. You could see in the Gibraltar and Finland games a few times when Scotland players basically pulled out of 50/50 challenges to preserve their health. Very sensible behaviour!

I'm not in the mood for it yet.
Maybe when Germany and Scotland kick-off on Friday I might start feeling it.

Aww, bless that must have been a great day for the wee ones. My nephews would love to have been there.

Steady, Duncan, we've only just started qualifying for tournaments again, lol.

Yeah, and Hungary are considerably better than most people realise....Switzerland might have a few players past their prime, but are still very decent as well.... :moping:

Luckily Steve Clarke will ensure the players are more positive about their chances than some of us fans are....

On that subject here's more of Super John McGinn to brighten up your day :cooler:

Call me crazy....

But Germany first game may work in Scotland's favour, sometimes the big teams take time to get their mojo on, with Germany being on home soil, they may be a bit nervy, also, this is not the greatest German team we've ever seen. Hopefully, we got at them, take our chances and defend well.

That's more like it Dels, with players like Robertson, Tierney, Gilmour, McGinn and International goal machine McTominay, there's no reason why we can't pose them plenty of problems! :fastheadbanging:
