How is a ref that took bribes still reffing games? A semi final as well. Wtf?
He was the one that was the whistle blower, so he got a lesser punishment and got to keep his job.
I didn't see the game tonight, so I don't know if was good or bad
Whistle blower is kind. He did a deal to only get 6 months. In the same way the Siena player who was caught did a deal to name Conte. This guy's career is riddled with dodgy decisions. It doesn't matter how he performed tonight, what matters is why and who let him still be a referee and why he wasn't banned for life. We're talking about a referee and match fixing. This is zero integrity and bringing the game into disrepute. Classic UEFA.
To be fair, I do agree. If a ref is caught taking bribes, there should be no way back, even if they co-operate. What should have happened is "thank you for co-operating, you'll get no jail time, but you can't work as a ref anymore."
I had a look. Colombia beat them in a friendly. But the mighty Scotland was, indeed the last team to beat them in a competitive match. Therefore I declare Scotland the moral victors of Euro 2024.
