That was never a penalty, nor was Portugal's in the first game. VAR interferes far more than it needs to and I'm not even liking the exact precision of the semi automated offsides as I think it's just going to lead to more goals being ruled out by very tiny margins that no one would have noticed before VAR.

Spain's penalties were so bad they deserved to go out for that alone. I'll always maintain that slow and/or stuttery run ups greatly increase the chances of missing. Bringing a player on at the end of extra time to take a penalty is also a big mistake.

Have to say though as soon as it went to pens, I don't think there has ever been a more obvious winner, wish I had put money on it.

I did feel sorry for Ronaldo having to sit and watch that.
