You deposit money into premium bonds and every month get entered into a draw to win various cash prizes. The more you deposited in the first place the greater your chance of winning. You don't lose any capital and can withdraw the full amount you put in. I think the biggest prize is £1m but I could be wrong.

Sounds like something my great uncle used to run in Gary, Indiana. Then they deported him back to Italy.......

Did they deport him because of that ? 👀

Liam is correct, the top prize is a million pounds. I've won twice in about 8 years because I don't have that many.
Seeing as interest rates were so pathetically low for ages it was a good place to park some cash.

Well we have the lottery officially. But until mose recently there was no gambling allowed except in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. So there were unofficial ways to gamble. Sports, the horses, the numbers, etc.... All at the time highly illegal

When my Dad was a kid (in the fifties) he was a bookie's runner. It was very illegal. He had a head for numbers though so he made himself useful.

My Mum said her family used to bet on the horses. They used to lay bets with a Flash Harry type character down a side street. 👀

The idea of my Dad being a street level scamp/urchin makes me laugh.

Ha. I would think the same of my dad, but it would get into a long messy back story

My Tortoise has made it through another Winter hibernation and is slowly coming back to life! Today's perfect spring weather should help liven him up.

PS He's older than me! :popsoutofegghappyeaster:
