I didn't fancy the original either......Still don't.
I've just finished Sweetpea on Sky Atlantic with rising star Ella Purnell. A darkly comic series about a wallflower, for want of a better phrase, who is still coming to terms with being severely bullied at school who snaps in quite a dramatic fashion in her 20s. A crap description of an enjoyable watch.
Anyone seen Anora at the cinema yet? That's my next visit planned this week.

TBH it's probably better that we all have rock bottom expectations for Gladiator 2, that way you can at least enjoy it for the sword and sandal hokum that it likely is....

F*** Musk btw
Joined the X-odus a few weeks back and currently using Bluesky as my go to for a social media fix. Thoroughly recommended to anyone thinking of doing the same.

Yeh, have been reading for a long time now that Bluesky had the potential to be the one that stuck for emigres from Twitter, mainly because it wasn't controlled by Meta, who openly talked about not wanting Threads to be 'political', and was much easier to get your head round than Mastodon!
It may have started out as an offshoot from Twitter, but their board have moved in a very different direction and have a lot of good ideas about keeping the toxicity out of their platform. Nuclear blocking functions, ability to remove your post from a quote tweet designed to dunk on you, etc etc.
It had been very slow for months, but sh*t is getting real all of a sudden and it's adding a million accounts a day. The Guardian and many other official media outlets are setting up accounts, official football team account as well and even the hold-out fun football accounts (Fantasy Football, Bryan's Gunn etc) are moving over in the last few days.
Worth keeping an eye on, as think this is a significant moment.....

Yeah if they can keep it from turning into a cesspit then fair dues to them.
I don't think Dorsey breaking from them is damning in any way in fact, twitter was a cesspit under his watch too, even when they had moderators. He does have a knack for setting up popular platforms but he doesn't seem to know the next steps, he's never figured out how to make them financially viable so he probably has nothing more to add to Bluesky anyway.
Mastodon never really seemed to get traction other than reactionary at the initial Musk X phase and i think that's because of what you said, it's got to be seamless.

Yeh, keeping it from becoming a cesspit will be the challenge!
At least (unlike X) they're not actively monetizing hate, which should help....
It's interesting as the cost to moving at first (especially as a UK based football fan) was using a platform that had way fewer users, almost zero large media orgs and little community to bounce off. Now that everyone's moving over VERY quickly, there's very little down side, and you get to give two fingers to Musk at the same time, which is a bonus!

Musk did very well with pushing inovation with Paypal, SpaceX and Tesla, but he messed up by having to purchase twitter and was purely cockiness on his part that landed him in it. Now he wastes too much time on X which is a pity because he could be doing much better things. Musk seems to have lost focus on what he's good at. He needs to get off X and spend more time on the companies he founded and maybe start a new one.Tangerine Romanista wrote: ↑18-11-24 17:08Yeh, keeping it from becoming a cesspit will be the challenge!

Shame. It's on my list. I only like RR as Deadpool, can't really stand him otherwise.
Series 1 of the Perry Mason remake with Matthew Rhys. I really liked it. Lots of twists & turns with a solid cast. Shame they cancelled it after 2 series.
Elon Musk should stop being a desperate blowhard. That's my 2 cents for you. You're welcome.
