England were so terrible I ended watching Scotland last night, catching the last half hour and I actually cheered when Skrtel put the ball in his own net. Well done the Jocks. Now get the job done in Slovenia.

The England game was awful. Poor performance, a crowd who only make noise to boo the team, and just a general lack of enthusiasm.
They're only worth watching when Vardy plays, and before my bias is pointed out, he shows enthusiasm and gets the team and crowd going a bit with his energy. He also has a good goalscoring record for England.
I hope Argentina make it. They're one of the nations I'd be disappointed to see miss out on the World Cup from a neutral perspective. Having said that I'd like Peru to qualify too as they haven't in my lifetime.

Scotland fans of a certain vintage still have nightmares about Peru!

Argentina will make it and so will Portugal. FIFA won't allow two of their marketing cashcows to not be there. Neymar alone won't do.
That said, I don't know what is wrong with Argentina, they have one of the most stacked forward lines in international football. Maybe they rely too much on Messi and everything has to go through him so the rest aren't able to play their own game like they do in their domestic sides. We see Dybala and Icardi being two of the best players in Serie a, together with Messi they really should be favourites for the world cup. And it's not like their defence is terrible cause the hardly conceed goals either.
Scotland are in a great position I'm not getting carried away. But if we do get a playoffs we'll get the best team. I've been a Scotland fan too long to get excited.
As for England, sometimes teams reflect their manager and Southgate is a boring f**ker. But at least they are there.

Scotland with the win at the end. What a great way to end the game and stay in the hunt. Now just get a win in Slovenia. Not the most fluid performance but 3 points is 3 points. Just imagine if they would have held on to beat the English?????
As for Gli Azzurri today, that was f2cking pitiful. Maybe the worst performance I have ever seen from an Azzurri team. No creativity/ No ideas. When is the last time a forward scored for Italia?
I would fire Ventura straight after the next game regardless and ask Carlo to coach at least the 2 legged playoff if they get there. Where is Jorginho? Balotelli? They are having great seasons so far yet he insists with 2 rate call ups.

Its because of "genetics". Scottish players are too short to compete at the highest level, like only Spain are shorter. Spain. That's who Strachan decides to compare with. Spain. The same Spain that cleaned up between 2008-12. The same Spain who are one of the favourites to win next year. That Spain.
There is clearly something fundamentally wrong with the national team and there has been for twenty years. That is what he should looking at. Not calling us a nation of midgets. If he wasn't Scottish he would probably be accused of being xenophobic.
I actually wasn't too bothered last night, I mean its Scotland, this always happens, I wasn't expecting anything less. You know that moment when you realised you've been well and truly trolled, reading the interview was a bit like that. I'm embarrassed by it. Sounded like the ramblings of a mad man.
I know a few people who have actually flown over to Slovenia, they deserve a better explanation other than they are short.
He shouldn't have to write a resignation letter, that interview should be it.

The price of France. I might have some of that.
Don't worry about Italy in the playoffs, it's the group stages that I'd worry about and going out then. But second to midgets of Spain isn't too bad though. Most teams would have finished second to them.
I wonder if someone told Strachan the midgets of Spain won their group.
Although I haven't watched an Italy game so far, so I don't know how bad it is.
He said that. You'll be able to find it somewhere on the internet. He's either plain mad. Or because he got everyone talking about his comments and not the result, a mad genius.

I've seen both games against Spain, and there seems a clear regression compared to Euro 2016. Conte's Italy dominated Spain having more possession and chances, the game plan clearly working.
The recent game in Madrid was the opposite, Italy were too open, couldn't play out and ended up being pinned back. I felt the setup was all wrong, it lacked balance with a clear lack of players in the centre of the pitch, and that's the coach's decision.
Conte got a lot out of a team which is amongst the weakest I remember Italy having. Ventura's a good coach, has followed Conte in a job before and has experience, but he's not Conte, and if Italy are to even have a chance of winning the World Cup, they need a higher level coach. I can see Ancelotti in the job within a year.

Didn't Conte say he would kill them if they didn't win in his team talks? If Italy get through the playoffs (which they will) I think it would be a tad harsh sacking him. He's obviously not winning the world cup with them but I doubt Carlo would, they can always blame it on the short arses in the team anyway .
But of course by the end of the world cup Carlo might have another job so Italy might want to see act quick. So yeah, Carlo will probably be there at the world cup. Hopefully, if they do get him, he's there for more than one campaign.
I knew Portugal would go through tonight, now just for Argentina not to let FIFA down.

Of course the Argies got through. As for Italia, if they want to have any chance, they need to make the brave move and get Carlo now. His caliber of coach is not available often. He could sign just through the WC if he wants.
I heard wee Gordon's comments. Scotland have to get rid of him. That's embarrassing .
Speaking of embarrassment, the USA is out of the World Cup for the first time since 1986. UGH Pitiful pitiful
I am sure FIFA is not happy either. Americans won't pay as much attention now that the USA is not in it

As much as I'm sure FIFA love American dollars. I think it was more important that Portugal and Argentina qualified last night. They can now flog Ronaldo and Messi's image which will most likely make up any lost revenue elsewhere.
SFA are meeting about Strachan today. So we shall see.
