Man did we struggle to get that 3 points. A deflection and a nice goal from young Pisilli to win it. You could see what that goal meant to him. Nice to see

Wasn't able to watch, but great to see we have players who can come off the bench and make in impact!
Managing the squad after european games is always hard, so difficult to assess whether the drop off in the first half performance was mainly due to fatigue and early season fitness challenges or not.....
Lots of criticism of Cristante and Pellegrini, but think again Juric has been smart relying on the experienced players for his first few games. His aim was to get a couple of wins on the board and he's managed to do that. I have no doubts that if established names don't improve their performances soon he'll offer starting opportunities to younger members of the squad more often.

Interesting wide ranging interview with Florent Ghisolfi.
Good to hear his plans to lower the age of the team and focus on youth (rather than high wage free transfers). Although SD's never seem to hang about long at Roma, so things may change.....
Also, from his comments it seems fairly clear that the team formation must have been a significant ongoing topic of conversation with DDR.....
https://romapress.net/florent-ghisolfi- ... interview/
“Soulé’s role in our plans? Soulé is suitable for the 433 but even more so in the 343, in the two behind a central striker. In the final part, De Rossi had also switched to the three-man defense, he had realized that the players could adapt better to this type of deployment.”
........................................
“And because analyzing the situation, the defense needed more stability. This is why in Genoa we played with three at the back and this is why at the end of the transfer market Saelemaekers, Hermoso and Hummels arrived, all players suited to this system.”
........................................
“As for Juric, we chose to give continuity to the imagined team, he is known for his three-man defense, he knows the team, the players and Serie A and he was also available to accept a short-term contract, without even discussing the financial part.

Freakin' scrubs. Another trip to Scandanavia, another loss. Team only started gearing up once Pellegrini came on. So they got rid of DDR for this nonsense?

Frustrating result, but absolutely astonished that the referee and VAR never took more time to look at the penalty incident.
I watched this from a different angle originally and thought it might have been a bit soft and maybe Baldanzi went down easily. Then watched it from a different angle and the defender clearly stamps on his foot and then follows though and kicks him with his left foot as well!

Oh it was clearly a penalty, but c'mon, we fired DDR for this?

Indeed. It's very early, and there have definitely been improvements in our patterns of play and chance creation....but watching a Roma team playing 3 at the back, with Zalewski constantly cutting inside to cross with his right foot at LWB and Celik continually wasting good attacking positions at RWB, has the whiff of peak Mourinho....and not in a good way......

Looking on the bright side: Dovbyk is properly up and running now goals wise, and Kone's signing looks like a great bit of business for just €18m.

Dovbyk is our offense at the moment

Gave up a freaking goal when Zalewski slipped and Inter got the counter attack. But still, no cutting edge to Roma's game. We got rid of DDR for this??? Roma did not even get the new coach bump really

A very frustrating performance all round.....giving the ball away too easily in midfield, toothless in attack, playing a system that relies on wingbacks when the two we have available are completely unsuitable to the tactic.....

Sounds unbelievable even for Roma, but nothing would surprise me at this stage....

Why would he want to? Unless since he is under contract he would be forced to come back.

The mind boggles but you know what it might happen! At Duncan stated, there's been no improvement in performances under Juric and the fans (myself included) are finding it hard to be enthusiastic about the team at the moment.
One thing the Friedkins understand is filthy lucre and with falling attendances and supporter interest, the bottom line will be seriously affected. They won't let this happen for too long so they'll have the next few weeks to decide?!?!

If this was how the season was going to go, might as well kept Bove, play Pisilli, Kone, Baldanzi, let Dybala go to Saudi etc....

According to the Italian media, the next two games could decide which way the club goes management wise.
Something has to change and quickly as this is close to a disaster in terms of performances.

I know what you mean Lupo, was enjoying watching games when DDR was managing (even when results didn't go our way), but finding it hard to get excited about matches now. Certainly a lot less enjoyable being a supporter when the owners, players and fans all seem to be pulling in opposite directions.....
The pressure is on and you can see it in Juric's statements, he's certainly not making blandly positive statements anymore.
“The crisis? At this moment we absolutely do not have a winning mentality. I see positive performances but we make a lot of mistakes and we don’t win.”
“The problem is that we don’t have a winning mentality. The way we’ve started this season is not good and from tomorrow onwards I want to see us play meaner.”
“The team can improve. The situation we’re in is shit, a total disaster, but we can improve. The boys must be incredibly hungry to turn it around. They must become beasts in order to get out of it.”

A back three (five) is one of my pet hates in football. It won't work at Roma either with those considered first choice wing backs by the current manager because they're not working as a unit.
Juric's comments could obviously go one of two ways but the squad seems to be as unhappy as the fanbase at the moment so unless there's a sudden change in mentality on the pitch then things could get worse! Then it will be upto the Friedkins to sort out the mess they created in the first place.
