Of course. It's early and other teams have dropped points but I would hazard a guess that winning is a must this weekend.

Still shocked!

Was fully backing DDR to turn things around, but in hindsight a run of 1 win in 11 competitive games isn't great and at least his reign was cut short before the fans and media really started getting on his back.... :dunno:

https://romapress.net/done-deal-ivan-ju ... new-coach/

Initially underwhelmed by appointment of Juric.....but on the positive side he's experienced in the league, sets his teams up to play at high intensity, has a record of improving players and has done pretty well with limited resources in recent years.

However he's an advocate of 3-4-2-1, and here was us thinking we were (mostly) done with playing 3 CBs.... :ninja:

I don't get it. Roma are supposedly building a project, bring in a bunch of new players, then sack DDR after a 4 games at the beginning of the season to bring in Juric??? Always some kind of freaking drama at Roma. This season could be a total mess.

This and Toto Schillaci passing away just makes me sad.

Lots of talk about DDR having disagreements with senior management about timings of new signings and the drama surrounding the non-sales of Dybala and Zalewski and how that affected DDR's plans for the team etc....

No doubt there's some truth behind the rumours, but if we'd finished the season better, and had won at least a couple of our opening matches, I'm not sure the tensions would have arisen quite so quickly....

Welcome to Rome, Ivan :ninja:
The leaders of the Curva Sud have announced the decision to protest the recent decision of the club to sack Daniele De Rossi.

Following De Rossi’s dismissal, Curva Sud published a statement inviting everyone to follow in their footsteps in this Sunday’s match with Udinese at Stadio Olimpico.

“The time has come to make ourselves heard,” reads the statement. “The Curva Sud invites all fans from any sector to participate in the protest, which will see the Curva Sud itself remain outside the stadium for the first half hour of the match.”

Something else has to be going on. You don't sack him 4 games into the season. And they gave him a 3 year extension?

Something ain't right. Maybe Totti was on to something recently......

Message from the new coach, if you're not prepared to work hard on the pitch, you're probably not going to be part of his plans....

Also, acknowledges that the way DDR had us playing in his first 10 games worked well....So hard to explain why we appeared to drop off from those levels of intensity.... :dunno:
How does Juric think he can fix the problems that led to the surprise change of coach?

“What I saw last season in the first phase of the De Rossi era was a very aggressive Roma, and that seemed like something the players relished. More than about physical intensity, it’s about knowing your position and making it a balanced team. Many of the players I had at Torino were not suited to my football, but in the end they managed to adapt.

“My idea is to continue being very aggressive and with a high press. I’ve seen positives and negatives so far this season, often during the same game. I think Daniele did a great job with organisation and the behaviour of the players, and the fitness levels are good. I want to introduce some things that I saw in the past and I believe we can do.”

So Juric picked many of the players who got blamed for underperforming under DDR, Cristane and Pellegrini got booed every time they touched the ball, the ultras boycotted the game for the first 30mins and we still played like a proper team and won easily. :dunno:

Smart coaching to be fair, wouldn't have been fair for the younger players and new signings to have faced that kind of pressure. Though telling that the one youngster he did pick (Pisilli) was probably man of the match when he was on the pitch. He's some player already and he only turns 20 tomorrow :fastheadbanging: (also likely explains why we were willing to let Bove leave)

I would have kept Bove and got rid of Paredes. Bove starts for Fiorentina. Pisilli looked really good. The fans were brutal on Pellegrini and Cristante. I expected a new coach bump in this game and that's what we got. Hopefully it will have some staying power with an experienced coach. I also saw Ms. Lina resigned as well. What a mess but a much needed 3 points

Also, a very nice goal by Dovbyk

Jeez, we had about 5mins peace from chaos and uncertainty. No idea what this means for the future of Roma and the grand plans the Friedkins have been shouting about?! :dunno:

https://romapress.net/official-friedkin ... takeover/
After Roma and Cannes, the Friedkin Group have completed the agreement for Everton’s takeover.

“Blue Heaven Holdings and The Friedkin Group confirm that they have reached agreement over the terms of the sale of Blue Heaven Holdings’ majority stake in Everton Football Club,” reads Everton’s official statement.

A rare statement from the Friedkins.

Clarifying that the DDR decision was theirs (which was necessary for them to state, but a bit late for our departed CEO...), and that owning another club won't diminish their commitment to Roma. We will see! :ninja:
”Football is admired around the world as the beautiful game. Each match is filled with passion, excitement and unpredictability – and that’s why we love it.

But beyond the results on the pitch, our responsibility as club owners is to make big decisions that we believe are in the best interest of the club, even when they are very difficult to make.

The transfer signings this summer marked the beginning of a strategic multi-year project designed to bring AS Roma back to the forefront of European football. As part of this vision, the development of a new stadium, which will honor the club’s deep history, is well underway.

Let us say this; we have the utmost respect for Daniele and believe he will have a great career as a coach. Maybe even one day back at Roma. The decision to part ways with him was incredibly difficult, but we made it with the belief that it gives us the best opportunity to compete for trophies this season.

We remain active investors in the sports industry. We love the beautiful game. The potential addition of Everton to our portfolio does not alter our focus on AS Roma. If anything, the multi-club symbiosis will only help Roma. Each club in our portfolio operates independently and AS Roma remains at the heart of our football ambitions. Rest assured, our commitment of time, resources, and energy to Roma will not be diminished. Our goal is clear – to see AS Roma consistently compete at the highest levels of European football.

To our incredible fans, we acknowledge the immense responsibility we bear in leading this historic club. Your unwavering loyalty fuels us as we continue building for the future. We value your voices and want you to know — we hear you. You are the soul of this club, and we are determined to make you proud.

Forza Roma.

Dan and Ryan Friedkin.”

When they see the income the PL brings in, they will kiss Roma good bye after a few years.

With any luck this will be the year Everton's luck runs out and they end up getting relegated.

Indeed!

We were probably unfortunate not to get the win, I thought we'd played well up until the equaliser, especially as we were integrating a lot of new players in the starting 11 and had made several substitutions in the 2nd half.

Athletic are probably one of the hardest teams we'll face, so fingers crossed we can get a few wins and climb up the (massive!) table.
