Pretty happy with that performance and result. Another loss would have sent us into the international break in a borderline crisis, so it was hugely important to change the narrative.
We didn’t create much until the late pressure, but there will be far better opportunities to fine tune the attack.
The whole defence looked solid and there were flashes from Koné near the end which suggest he could be the attacking midfielder we’ve been crying out for since Mkhi left for Inter.

You didn't miss a lot, goalmouth action wise.....
Sounds like we've almost completed the signings of 29 year old left footed ex-Atletico Madrid defender Mario Hermoso, as well as (slightly older than 29 years of age....) Mats Hummels. Two solid additions, and no transfer fee outlays. Think that makes sense in central defence (where we only need two CB's nowadays), because N'dicka should be staring every game, and Mancini can still do a more than decent job when he screws the nut...
Meanwhile, Smaldinho's on his way to Saudi Arabia....the last 12 months haven't gone well for Chris, but he probably exceeded a lot of expectations in the seasons before that.

There wasn't much wrong defensively yesterday, we were very solid & restricted Juve to a single shot on target which was very pleasing, as was the point gained. I'm very happy overall with the team & manager after that!
The two free transfers for CBs make sense & give the squad some real depth at last. A good, solid market has added to the squad and brought down the average age & the wage bill.
Bye Chris Smalling, you were a stalwart for a couple of seasons before injuries took their toll.

Farewell Joao Costa, we barely knew you at all!
https://romapress.net/done-deal-joao-co ... 9-million/
The 19-year-old winger has agreed to a permanent move to Al Ettifaq, reports Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport.
Costa will sign a long-term contract with Steven Gerrard’s side, with Roma set to earn €9 million from his sale, which will mark a huge capital gain for the club.

I had to double check that fee & if I'm honest I don't remember him at all......

With the transfer market still open in Turkey, it seems that Galatasaray are after TR's fave player Zalewski. Personally I'd keep him but money talks..........

€10m, with only a year left on his contract? I'll drive him to Istanbul myselfAccording to Alfredo Pedulla, Roma have opened to the player’s sale after Galatasaray offered 10 million euros for the player whose contract is set to expire next year.
But seriously, there's no way DDR would be allowing him to leave if he fully rated him.
I might come to regret this, but you get the impression that (unlike Calafiori), his on field decision making doesn't exactly mark him out as the type of player who will improve massively in the coming years.....

I'm not sure either tbh, he's a good squad player who knows the club culture so as I stated I'd keep him.

There’s probably a hint of disappointment when it comes to Zalewski that clouds my judgement.
When he broke onto the scene he looked capable of becoming a really important player for the team. But he’s never really kicked on since.
As you say he’s well placed to have a good season and we’re not blessed with pacy wide players, so hopefully he can kick on and have a good one!

Agreed. He filled a problem position at the time (LB) very admirably for JM and now he wants to play as a more attacking player at Roma. I hope he does!

There was a siege on the Roma goal second half, a complete about turn from the first tbh. The team got far too deep and it was poor to watch so it did feel an equaliser was coming for a good 15 mins or more. Still gutted.

Such a disappointing result, and a bit worrying that De Rossi seemed at a loss to explain why the team dropped so deep in the 2nd half.....
Oh and our bad luck with injuries for new signings continues unabated....
