At the price mentioned in reports, he would be a bargain.

Diadora's return would be great but they won't offer the required cash I reckon.

Strong rumours Roma's owners may be back with an offer for a stake in Everton.............

Yep. A fantastic talent, but there's very little history of an injury prone player suddenly becoming the type of player that never misses games in their 30's. Pastore comes to mind....
This sort of came out of the blue, certainly considering the Soulé signing linkup, but fitting Dybala into the different systems DDR wanted to play sounded like it was becoming an unsolvable problem...

Unfortunately in modern football, everyone is an unbelievable athlete 1st and then there are the absolute elite who are also generationally talented footballers as well. We perhaps saw that when we played Beyer Leverkusen last year, when we looked slightly off the pace all over the pitch....
You get the impression DDR knows this, from the way he talks about individual player stats in interviews and talks about wanting more pace in the team. The occasional YouTubeable clip of magic per game doesn't really cut it over a 40-50 game season....which in many ways is sad, as we're definitely losing something from the game.
I'm not sure Totti would have had the length career he had if he'd still been playing in the 2020's....

First team lineup of the season.
Looking forward to seeing Soulé and Dovbyk in action

Not quite clicking so far, a first 45mins that is reminiscent of a fair few of our away games last season under DDR....
He's not had much service to work on so far, but like what I see of Dovbyk, he's got a decent touch for a big man and looks happy playing with his back to goal.
Defence looks decent as well so far, very re-assuring to have Svilar backing them up.
Will be interesting to see which of our attacking players can step up in the 2nd half...

Turns out none of them could quite step up......Tangerine Romanista wrote: ↑18-08-24 20:37Will be interesting to see which of our attacking players can step up in the 2nd half...
Though Dybala almost served up a parting gift for Dovbyk....

I didn't think it was a horrible performance, but nothing quite clicked either. I thought some of the new players looked decent and need time to settle in. Considering some of the other results around the league, it's not bad. I really think we could use Bellanova of Torino on the flank with his pace.

Talk that if Dybala goes we would spread the cash, rather than sign a direct replacement. He's still to make up his mind on the offer....
Makes sense to me, watching the game the other night it was crystal clear we need upgrades in the RB and LW positions....

Among the positions that Roma would like to improve are the left side of their attack, a new right-back, as well as another midfielder and potentially one more centre-back.
Two specific names have already been linked with moves to the Stadio Olimpico to cover those first two positions. They are Nice winger Jeremie Boga and Rennes right-back Lorenz Assignon.
Roma would then look to add another midfielder and centre-back, but that is only likely to happen if Dybala leaves for Saudi Arabia.

In a sensational turn of events, Paulo Dybala and Roma have decided to both reject the offer from Al-Qadsiah and he will remain at the Stadio Olimpico. ‘I’ll see you Sunday.’

I am overjoyed he is staying because the first home game will be a celebration instead of a bad atmosphere. Dybala makes the difference with his quality and with a squad overhaul this summer, he will be one of the constants in attack.
The video of the Roma faithful outside Dybala's appartment on Thursday night says it all really!

Yeh, think we might have slightly underestimated what having a player like Dybala means for the local fans!Lupo Pazzesco wrote: ↑24-08-24 08:08I am overjoyed he is staying because the first home game will be a celebration instead of a bad atmosphere. He's obviously a popular player at the club, certainly amongst the younger squad members, so him staying won't have a negative impact on the squad, and as you say Lupo the crowd response will be positive this weekend, which can only help.
Hopefully DDR can find a way of incorporating him into his plans, and Paulo can kick on and have a successful, (mostly) injury free season.
