Sounds like moves are afresh..... :coffeecomputer:
Report: Vincenzo Montella in pole position to become Roma's head coach

Former Roma striker Vincenzo Montella is reportedly close to a return to the Italian capital.

After a brief managerial spell in 2011, Montella could once again take hold of coaching duties at Roma in the wake of Ivan Juric’s dismissal.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport journalist Roberto Maida, Montella is now the favorite to become Roma’s new head coach.

The Friedkins are determined to secure Montella’s services.

The Italian technician is open to the move and could be freed from the Turkish national team through a release clause in his contract.

So the Friedkin's must read this blog. I said to get Claudio back until the end of the year, then do a proper managerial search in the summer. It will settle down the team and the tifosi

Claudio is the perfect man to unite the club.

Agreed. Ranieri is definitely the best choice to unite the club if there are no legitimate long term options available right now.

Just checking what formation he was playing at Cagliari last season, glad to see he more often than not played 4 at the back, we can but hope! :lollaughing:

I'm more worried about the players tbh, Mister is loved by the fans.

Was curious to see if the arrangement would include Claudio incorporating a new coaching team. But just checked and he's appointed his assistant who's been with him for over 15 years, so doesn't sound like it will be a full reset!
Ranieri began by introducing the Roma players to his coaching staff, which, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, includes his long-term assistant Paolo Benetti, plus Sergio Spalla, Carlo Spignoli and Massimo Catalano.

Hmm, not exactly enthused by this news....seem to remember this tactic worked well for approximately one game for Juric.....
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Claudio Ranieri will start under-fire Roma trio Gianluca Mancini, Bryan Cristante and Lorenzo Pellegrini in the next Serie A match against Napoli.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Italian trio will start at the Stadio Maradona this coming weekend as Ranieri wants to rely on their experience and personality to get a result against the table leaders.

Mancini and Pellegrini okay, I get it. But Cristante? Ugh

Claudio has a tough job pleasing the fans & picking the right team today, I don't envy him in any way! Hopefully, the eleven who start pull their collective finger out & play well.

From the little press I seen, it looks like we're going to start with a back four which is a positive imho but we need to be more compact in midfield as well as we've been too easy to pass through this season. A few Roma goals wouldn't go amiss either.

A fresh start for everyone, us lot included............

About what I expected for Ranieri's first game and away at the league leaders. Keep it tidy and try for some counterattacks. Sucks to lose 1 nil but hoping for a draw would have been the best result in these circumstances.

Next is away to Spurs who I saw just whipped City in Manchester 4-0. Yikes

Not expecting much for this one either.

Good summary and my feelings exactly tbh.

Thursday might be a match too early for the team to benefit from wise words from the new manager but I think CR will go for experience again. Hopefully it will work out!

Jeez, had forgotten that Hummels was essentially done at the top level (pace wise) about 3 years ago.....not sure he's going to be our answer in defence....

The three CBs at the back helps us going forward and Dybala always seems to thrive when he can roam about freely, but it really exposes us out wide in defence....which is far from ideal when you're up against pacy wingers like Son and Johnson.... :wideeyed:

Have zero expectations for the 2nd half unfortunately, and not sure we'll have gained anything from going back to a formation that doesn't work when you don't have a right sided wing back in the squad......but you know, we soldier on.... :ninja:

Hey, the 2nd half turned out better than I feared...... :coolreddancer:

A fair few positives, and very encouraging to see Saelemaekers and Soulé returning to give us some energy on the flanks, but the main thing that stuck out for me was how much we've missed Paredes' progressive passing. When he's on it, there are very few players who can spray the ball about and dominate the midfield like him. :fastheadbanging:

I must admit I had a wry smile when I saw Paredes in the starting eleven, we've missed him this season imho. AS you said TR, he controls things and he's also got that killer Argie instinct as well. I hope he features more often from now on under CR.

Great result & Hummels gets the equaliser to stop Spurs celebrating a win and we get a valuable point. Well done the players & manager.

Missed the game yesterday due to it being Thanksgiving here and spent time with the family. From the highlights it looked like much better team spirit and performance. Hope they can surprise vs Atalanta.
