Decent results on paper for Juve and Napoli in tough fixtures.

Terrible result for Atalanta, but i didn't want to start the thread that way

Good result for Slavia Prague though

Lupo started a CL thread with last season's year in the title, but i never change people's topic titles, that's up to them, and i don't know where Lupo is, himself and Ian haven't returned since their spat :dunno:

It was a great result for Napoli, must be bitter sweet for Carlo to get a win over them.

As for Juve we are literally the Italian Spurs in this competition. Pathetic.

It's not often you see Real Madrid losing 3-0 to pretenders, especially a Zidane led RM, but i thought Bale was supposed to be moving on in the summer just gone, no?

Napoli played well, good defending and effective attacking. The penalty shouldn't have been awarded though.

A shame for Atalanta after their great displays over the last 2 years that they got a result like that. I hope they improve and can qualify.

They agreed to release him to a Chinese team offering him something like £1m a week, as Zidane was refusing to play him, but changed their minds at the last minute as they didn't want to let him go for no transfer fee.

I don't follow La Liga closely, but they seem to have been a bit disjointed as a club since Ronaldo left.

Cheers Liam, i didn't know that.
I'd play in hell for £1m per week! I was actually in China about 1.5 years ago for a holiday, really enjoyed it, would definitely play there for a while. Huge amount of history and culture, people are nice and the food was good quality if you go down the markets etc. They also give you the food free if you try to translate their language :chanting:
They call themselves "The factory of the world" according to the guide we had, then we were brought to factories :flooredlaughing:
Brilliant place though.

Juve have been a bit disjointed since Ronaldo joined as well, though not his fault. He made a really good run plus would've had a goal if Higs did right.

Real Madrid will be better off without Ronaldo, he's too greedy and selfish, they said. They'll play better as a team, they said. :flooredlaughing:

La Liga has a little less glamour without Ronaldo now. I watch it alot less than I used to.

I thought it was a pen for Napoli last night, there was contact, plus, Salah gets they type of pens all the time. Had the ref not given it, I would have understood that too.

Tbf Bale did score a cracking goal but the new draconian hand ball rules didn't allow it to be.

I have nothing against Spurs but conceding 7 goals at home in the Champions League is nothing short of embarrassing, it's one of those scorelines that you'll be slagged about for a good 5 years anyway.

I can't believe Tottenham reached the final last year, although they do seem to be imploding at present with players wanting out.

Atalanta paid the price for their attacking approach as they gambled late on and ended up getting caught short at the back.

I was so happy Inter were beaten but I was unhappy Barcelona won. It was a very confusing Wednesday for moi.
