Well of the teams I don't care about in the semi finals, I guess I will go with Dortmund only for the fact that my little niece bought me a Dortmund cap at her local soccer store because it resembled Purdue University colors.[ My school]
Yep! Dortmund being in 5th place in the Bundesliga yet making the CL Final, and Bayern being in the other semi, makes me think better of Roma's performance in the EL semi's against Bayer L. A 49 game unbeaten streak playing teams like that?
I've not seen the report but apparently Hummels kicking up a fuss over nothing (Reus' exit/ final game) in the Dortmund camp seems like very poor form prior to the biggest match for the club in years!?!?
It's a stupid format that means more pointless group games. From my experience playing Football Manager it may get interesting for some teams around the final set of fixtures but a lot of teams will know their fate before then.
I suppose it'll be more interesting playing eight different teams instead of playing the same team twice. I don't think there was an advantage of being in pot 1 over pot 4, but the seeding did avoid someone playing against all the top eight seeds.
It's a mad draw process and a sop to the big teams who wanted a Super League (and for those reasons I was also of the opinion that everything about it was wrong.....), but when you see the variety of matches that teams will actually have in the fixture list, it might actually make for an interesting change for fans.... (although your experience from Champ Man might suggest otherwise Liam!)
Although of course, trying to make sense of (mid table) teams' chances of qualifying and tracking what individual results will mean later on in the group stage will be nigh on impossible!!
