Is this what the kids are listening to? I wanted to like it, but I just can't connect with it. I miss old Beyonce. Maybe I'm just old. *cries in Destiny's Child*Lupo Pazzesco wrote: ↑23-06-22 07:14Beyonce goes (sort of)House with her new single! Not bad at all.![]()

The Kids in the USA love the bastardised version of House Music, EDM. She's band wagon jumping as is Drake's new album.
Tbh, I prefer the message rather than the song as it's got a very short shelf life. I'll be bored of it by Monday.
Destinys Child > Beyonce (on the whole).
In other R&B news, it was great to catch TLC on the IPlayer at Glastonbury earlier.

The red button on iPlayer is your friend when it comes to Glastonbury.
Not necessarily the kind of music I'd usually listen to, but Idles' set was bloody awesome
On a more chilled out vibe, I really loved Khruangbin as well

Gabriels were ace at Glastonbury on Friday, great voice and backing singers!
......I'm will be catching up with more later and through the week.
As you stated TR, Idles aren't my usual cup of tea tbh but were superb.

The version of Break My Soul I heard wasn't the one released. I think it must have been the demo before the sample was put in, now I can't find. Anyway, the demo was better, this sampled version sounds cheap and nasty. I legit thought it was a joke when I heard it.Lupo Pazzesco wrote: ↑24-06-22 20:13The Kids in the USA love the bastardised version of House Music, EDM. It was good to see TLC still performing. And the original Sugababes, that took me back, lol.
The Gabriels' are fantastic! Hope to hear more from them.

To give Beyonce her dues, she credits the writers of several very minor samples (Robin S' Show Me Love for one) on the record thus earning them royalties so fair play.

As it's so bloody hot, down tempo music is the order of the day so Apollo Brown's new instrumental Hip-Hop album, This Must Be The Place fits the bill perfectly & is ace.

90s west coast rap is perfect for this weather. It does make sense, they are used to brilliant sunshine, so maybe the music and the environment just managed to sync up somehow.
Go on, put the earphones on, relax and listen to Nuthin' but a 'G' Thang.
Also, Will Smith and Jazzy Jeff's Summertime.

Jitwam's album Third (as recommended by The Observer last weekend) is great.
He'd been on my radar for some earlier House stuff I bought but this is slower and has lots of ace vocals so a very pleasant surprise.
I'm also loving Lizzo's voice on a track from her new CD, Coldplay. It samples a Hip-Hop track from an Independent label as well so props to her for the royalties it will generate.

While my rock tastes tend to swing to classic rock, blues-rock and Alt.Rock, I dabble here and there with metal. I obvs love Metallica, I like Iron Maiden, Marilyn Manson, Evanescence, Pantera. And random songs from other bands like Korn, Linkin Park, Disturbed, System of a down but they may be more nu-metal? I was always put off Slipknot because of the masks, I thought they were just a gimmick but YouTube recommended a video of their singer in concert performing one of their songs acoustically, and I really liked it, so I went to view the band version and I liked that better and I have since listened to everything and I'm now a fan and they have an album coming out in Sept that I'm looking forward to.
