I usually close the registration every Christmas eve for a week or so, this was to stop spam.
This year i'll be closing it tomorrow evening, for security reasons.
To cut a long story short it's because of a vulnerability regarding logging in Apache servers, which the forum runs on.
Our server has been patched and all vulnerabilities are resolved for this, as per the hoster, but just to be sure i'll close all front facing forms from tomorrow.
Despite there being little or no publicity of this in the main stream media, this vulnerability has been given the highest level, it allows anyone to run executables remotely without the need for admin rights. So the likes of ransomware would be the obvious one here.
Nobody will be hacking us for a ransom obviously but the hobbyest will be messing around.
The big guns will wait for Christmas eve/day to attack the corporations.
Anyway some of the profile forms (not forums) will be closed from tomorrow evening, but it won't affect much to logged in users. You'll still be able to post on the forum and use PMs etc as normal.
You'll still be able to read me saying how great i think Juve are right now so all is ok, right!?
...and remember, Bonucci is the best!

Apologies for the website being down for most of the day.
I'm looking into the root cause because despite the error code being for exceeding limits, the resources for the website are never anywhere near being exceeded.
It's possible it exceeded connection attempts, due to excessive traffic, which needs to be checked out as excessive traffic wouldn't occurr from just ourselves visiting the website.

I'd say the FI website were so occupied with writing an article about "5 reasons why Milan have been very naughty boys", that FI forgot to pay their Cloudflare bills!
Or maybe they were too busy writing an article based on one random person's comment on twitter, with the headline of "Fans are furious about <some clickbait>".
Most hosting companies in the 'west' have probably geoblocked Russia to protect their own business. Doesn't mean it would have the desired affect, because they can use a US source, but it might mitigate against some of the potential cyber attacks.
A lot of the spam, as opposed to the more malicious attacks, came from the Ukraine before the war, a fair bit from Russia, Viet nam and China too. Lately it seems to be all India. Ukraine has dried up from what i can see.
