Hey folks thanks for being protagonists and registering despite the state of the place.
There's a lot of tasks still to do so instead of posting every time there's a change made to format and features i'll just post the list of changes made each week.

It's a brave new world. Anyhoo, we've unpacked the kettle and we all know that's the most important bit.

Forum was down last night.
Not sure what time it went down, but it was definitely down between 4:30am and 9:30am Irish time. Latest access log was 22:06 so might have gone down any time between 22:06 and 04:30.
Seeking root cause from the hosting company so if i caused it i'll know what not to do the next time.

Still, some forums on Tapatalk are down all week and haven't heard anything from their hoster, so could be worse!

However, spitefulness aside, 11.5 hours downtime is really poor though, if we were down for that long, and we were definitely down for at least 5 hours, so i need to know the root cause.

I have days free Wednesday to Saturday of next week so there will be improvements made to the forum then. It's not going to stay incomplete in its current state.

The 11 hour downtime two weekends ago was acknowledged by the hosting company, it was a service on their server that stopped and that should've been detected by their monitors but wasn't so in their words that particular failure "won't happen again."
Though i would never say never with tech devices.

Possible downtime Monday 16th October

Due to storm Ophelia due to hit Ireland on Monday 16th, and the data center for the forum being in the eye of it, there may be some downtime.
While the electricity grid is expecting widespread outages, downtime is not expected as obviously the hoster has backup generators but the staff will be working remotely from home and if they lose power at their home then they won't be able to connect to their job to fix any issues.
The Irish state agencies have advised everyone to stay at home so the hoster is just following a directive in taking this action for the safety of their staff.

The smileys will be back in the next few days. The images were saved from the old forum before the plug was pulled by the old hoster. Took a long time to code them all back into the database because there is so many of them, held up progress on any other development. :(
