Serie A going back to BT Sport. Personally think its a good thing, but will be interesting to see how many they actually air every weekend

Although I was OK with Premier Sports, it's good to have it back on BT, and also I can now get rid of Premier Sports saving me some money.

It'll be nice to have a new dedicated show too. I miss the European Football Show BT used to broadcast.

On the latest Totally Football Podcast they confirmed the additional show (hosted by James Richardson) will be on from 7pm - 10pm every Sunday night. Sounds ideal, time for weekend highlights/goals + full preview and coverage of the big Sunday night game.

That's the best coverage we've had in the UK for at least 2-3 years? :coolreddancer:

Nice!

It's a very long time since i seen a JR show, i've been using an italian IPTV service, i still have that but i have BT + Premier as well now so looking forward to it.
I think the last time i seen JR was at a live podcast show in Dublin years ago, jeeze could be 8 years ago...is his podcast going that long? I think it was a guardian podcast, can't remember exactly.
Anyway, was talking to him afterwards he was saying he knew and read the forum from time to time. Of course he could've just been humouring me but he did keep coming back after photos with others like he wanted to talk more so i think he did have a genuine respect for people on this forum, and actually eventually we were the only ones left and was only that someone dragged him away for some official interview or something. Very sound lad, had plenty of time for me, i think maybe because he knew the forum so knew we were genuine supporters and all that. He confirmed he supports Roma btw, not Lazio as some people used to think.
Probably like me in critizing his own team more than others so maybe ppl thought because of that he didn't like Roma or something as he said he's probably Roma's biggest critic, but it was only because he wants them to always do better.

I thought the show was called Football Weekly Podcast but i could be wrong, maybe it was Total Football as you said. I just went because it was him and some other known pundits that were into italian football as well.

Myles you're exactly right. He used to present a podcast that the Guardian produced called Football Weekly... I think it actually started for the 2006 world cup, i certainly remember listening to it in for the 2008 Euros.
Football Weekly carried on at the Guardian with a different host, and JR went off to host The Totally Football show which has subsequently been incorporated into the The Athletic these days

You say he reads these forums.. I'm curious now... which one of you is JR...

Haha. That’s quite a compliment Lupo! If only I knew half as much about as Italian football or could speak the language a quarter as well!!

Great that you had the chance to speak to him Myles. Yes Jimbo is definitely a Roma fan, as is his BT Sport and Totally Football podcast colleague James Horncastle, and as Myles said that’s why they’re probably so hard on the Giallorossi as they feel our pain?!

Flotron has the timescales spot on. Over the last few years the Totally Football guys have also produced some dedicated Italian football podcasts called Golazzo, hosted by JR, they’re well worth a re-listen as they’re mostly historical >>

Just great news all round to have such knowledgable fans of Serie A presenting the coverage on BT.

Quick update on the coverage, the Sunday night show starts at 7:30pm this weekend (not 7pm), not sure whether that will be the same going forward.

Oh and the Saturday coverage starts 30mins before the kick-off this weekend, which is great to hear, again not sure if this is a one off for the opening weekend?

I had understood that this week the JR show is on Saturday, but the regular slot will be Sunday night. Probably explains the start times for this weekend and they will quite likely switch back for future weeks.

Hey gang, I made a thing. Mapped all the Serie A players' birthplaces. Bit o' geeky fun like.
